King Charles III has called for urgency in controlling Artificial Intelligence (AI), considering its potential dangers. The British monarch met leaders of OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind and Nvidia to discuss the unavoidable subject of AI.
Addressing an AI Summit, the King urged the AI companies 'not to lose control of our destiny'. "Those who have created these technologies are now increasingly warning that AI risks developing darker capacities, perhaps even to take life," the King said.

"And in this regard, if I may say so, there seems urgency in adequately considering the existential dangers of such technologies falling into the wrong hands, and being used in potentially catastrophic ways. Surely then, we need sufficient means of control before it is all too late."
The King's remarks come at a time when there is a worldwide concern about how AI could affect the future of the human race.
"The decisions taken at this formative time will shape the world inherited by future generations. And so the task before you is not merely to advance a technology but to ensure that it remains firmly in the service of humanity, community and the natural world.
"So as we embrace what is new, we must not lose what is timeless," he said.
Recently, Jacob Coxon, a former researcher at Anthropic and OpenAI, warned that the "people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade". OpenAI publicised instances of its training models disobeying commands and going rogue before being contained, hinting at the potential of the technology going out of human control.
